Residential Window Cleaning

October 14, 2010

Residential window cleaning is a convenient service for homeowners. Over time, a lot of dirt and grime build up on the windows of your house.  Professional window cleaners have the equipment, the staff and the expertise to the job quickly and safely.  I hear alot prospects complain about the cost of having a service company do the work, but there are just too many stories about home owners who get serious injuries falling off a ladder cleaning the windows or gutters.

If you decide to get a couple of quotes for the job, there are a couple of things to remember:  1) not all services are the same,  2) make sure that the contractor's employees are bonded and that the contractor carries liability insurances and worker's compensation for his or her employees.

After that we strongly recommend that you do not accept phone estimates. Without seeing your home, there is just no way of knowing what kind of problems the crew might run into.

Make sure you know exactly what services they will be doing.  Estimates can be given for outside window cleaning, or inside/outside window cleaning.  Are they going to wipe down the sills and frame or is that not included in the estimate?  We will also need to know what kind of windows you have in your home to be able to give you and accurate estimate.  We also strongly recommend that you ask for references.  Talking to someone else who has used the company before allows you to ask questions and to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the specific contractor.  For example, if the reference says the company did a good job but was 2 hours late, can you live with that?

The last piece of advice I can give you is to check on that contractors residential window cleaning team.  How long have they been in the contractors employ?  Are they employees or working on a temporary basis?

There are many different services out there and making sure that you are comparing "apples to apples" so to speak, is half the battle.
